Let's face facts, the Transformers movie franchise had been in a constant decline for years. Bumblebee did a lot to repair that and set things back on the right track. You knew Paramount wasn't going to just give up, as a matter of fact, they might be doubling up.
Deadline reports that there are a couple of Transformers projects in the works. The first is from James Vanderbilt who wrote Murder Mystery. The report suggests that this particular movie could be based on Beast Wars. Animal versions of Transformers would not only work well for the younger audience, let's face it, it would probably look pretty cool too. Need a refresher? Here's a quick video from the official Transformers YouTube page:
Before you say what you're thinking, remember this was from an animated series in 1996. I think that it's safe to say that things have come a long way since then. Just imagine what this could look like in a modern live action/CGI form.
As for the second movie in development, it is reportedly set in the Bumblebee universe. Joby Harold of John Wick Chapter 3 fame would be working on this one. There is no word on any casting, and if any members of the Bumblebee cast or "Bee" himself would be reprising their roles. Based on how the last movie ended, it's certainly possible that things could continue.
I will keep you posted on any updates as I get them.
