Beware the “Good Time Sloth”! The Hollywood Reporter broke the news today that Memetic from Boom! Studios would be getting the movie treatment. Lionsgate is in final negotiations to acquire the rights.
The story was co-created by James Tynion IV and Eryk Donovan about a weaponized meme that sends people into a murderous rage. Believe me, that barely scratches the surface of Memetic. Seth Rogen will produce along with partners Evan Goldberg and James Weaver. Boom! Studios’ Ross Richie and Stephen Christy will also be on board. The script will be written by Mattson Tomlin, who recently co-wrote The Batman script with Matt Reeves. Needless to say, that is a very impressive team behind the scenes, and they haven’t even named a director yet.
