27 years is a long time to do anything, but in the creative world, it’s almost unheard of. So much has to go right in order for that to happen. I won’t give you a long list, but I will tell you that comic book history is about to be made. Remember we told you about the upcoming 300th issue of Spawn releasing soon. Now there is a big announcement regarding the next issue.
Image Comics and McFarlane Productions announced that McFarlane would be writing and drawing the record setting issue. “It is with great pride that I can say that after nearly three decades of producing the SPAWN title, that I am still 100% in the creative driver’s seat of the character I brought to life back in 1992,” said McFarlane. “I wrote and drew that first issue and will do the same for this historic issue as well.” He will be joined by Spawn artists Greg Capullo and Jason Shaun Alexander, along with Clayton Crain, Jerome Opeña and Francesco Mattina. Apparently there might be even more surprise announcements coming before the issue is released. Spawn will become the longest running creator-owned comic book ever when Issue 301 comes out on September 25th!
There’s more McFarlane fans! Former IDW Publisher/CEO and founder of the new Clover Press, Ted Adams recently interviewed McFarlane for Traveling Stories. He talks about his career and gives all kinds of writing tips. You can read the interview here or listen to it via the Traveling Stories YouTube page here:
