Cue the music, and get ready to dance. Just, try not to usher in another apocalypse this time. Netflix revealed today that they have renewed The Umbrella Academy for a third season.
Normally that’s all we would know, but they shared even more news about the upcoming release. Season 3 will consist of 10 hour-long episodes, once again. Production is set to begin in February of 2021 in Toronto. The series will once again be produced by produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, for Netflix.
Your favorite cast members will return to reprise their roles. That includes Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya, and Colm Feore. Additional casting is expected, but hasn’t been announced at this time. Steve Blackman will also return as showrunner. Alongside him will be executive producers Jeff F. King (who will also direct), Mike Richardson, Keith Goldberg, Jesse McKeown, and co-executive producers Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá who created the comic book series.
What kind of trouble that the family gets into this time remains to be seen. Based on the way that Season 2 ended (no spoilers), something tells me that Season 3 will be going in a uniquely different direction. If you’re not caught up, you have plenty of time to do that at netflix.com/umbrellaacademy.
