‘The Flash’ Movie Casts Sasha Calle As Supergirl

Let’s be honest. The Flash movie has been a bit of a soap opera so far. So many delays, changing of directors and other issues. Now things are starting to shape up for this Flashpoint storyline, with another interesting character added to the cast. Sasha Calle, longtime cast member of The Young & The Restless, has been cast to play Supergirl in the upcoming film.

The announcement was made by director Andy Muschietti on Instagram today. You can see it, and Sasha’s reaction here:

Outside of being a soap opera star, this will be Calle’s biggest role by far. She joins the cast led by Ezra Miller, but also includes Ben Affleck, Michael Keaton and many others. Since we’re talking about Flashpoint, it is unclear what ripple effects this could send through all of DC Films. She will definitely have big shoes to fill following in the footsteps of Melissa Benoist and Helen Slater.

We have not seen Supergirl much in live action beyond that, with this being only the character’s second big screen appearance. This might also be a good time to remind certain fans that you can make your hair any color you want to. That shouldn’t need to be said, but the blonde comments have likely already started on social media. The Flash begins production soon, and will be released on November 4, 2022.

More on this as it develops.
