Next time you’re at the mall, you might want to take a closer look. You just might spot a Transformer. The Transformers BotBots have been disguising themselves as everyday items since 2018. This toy line will now be highlighted in a new Netflix animated series from Hasbro’s Entertainment One.
Transformers BotBots will be for a younger generation of fans. Netflix has already signed on for 20 episodes, although it’s not clear if that will be all in one season (likely not.) Kevin Burke and Chris “Doc” Wyatt (Spider-Man, Transformers: Rescue Bots Academy, Stretch Armstrong & the Flex Fighters) will serve as executive producers and showrunners.
Here is the logline provides by Netflix: “BotBots are Transformers robots that disguise themselves as everyday mall objects. By day, these BotBots hide quietly on store shelves but at night, they jump into adventure until a group of BotBots called ‘The Lost Bots’ run into the mall security guard and put all the bots in danger. Will these misfits be able to overcome their differences, defeat the security guard and gain acceptance in the eyes of the other bots?”
It sounds like Olivier Dumont President of eOne Family Brands, is excited to be teaming with Netflix again. “We are delighted to partner with Netflix to bring an all-new Transformers story to life and explore a whole new universe with BotBots. Transformers storytelling has expanded into so many new avenues and we can’t wait to surprise both existing fans and new fans coming to the franchise for the first time with these fun bots who are definitely more than meets the eye!”
Expect a lot of fun and a lot of antics from these tiny bots soon. I’ll have more on a release date and any first look photos when they become available.
