When I talked to voice acting legend Jennifer Hale on Episode 368 of the podcast, I asked her if more voice actors should get to play their characters in live action adaptations. Her answer was simple, “100 percent.” Well now we have an example of that happening. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Merle Dandridge (The Flight Attendant) would reprise her role as Marlene in HBO’s The Last of Us series.
Dandridge has voiced the character in both games, and now will bring the character to live action. Marlene is the leader of a resistance group called The Fireflies. They battle the military organization for their freedom. That is also a decent indicator of how the story for the series might go and how closely it ties into the game itself.
She joins already announced cast members Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey and Gabriel Luna. The series currently does not have a release date. For all of the info on who will produce the series, go here.
