Other than updates on release dates, it’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about the upcoming sequel to the fan favorite Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. So today’s big casting news already has the Spidey Sense of fans tingling. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Issa Rae (Insecure) has been cast to voice Spider-Woman.
Rae will play the Jessica Drew version of the character. Remember we already have Hailee Steinfeld as the voice of Gwen Stacy and Zoë Kravitz as Mary Jane. Honestly, most Spider-Man fans consider Jessica Drew as THE Spider-Woman anyway, so there shouldn’t be any confusion. Shameik Moore also returns as Miles Morales and Jake Johnson will be back as Peter Parker.
The casting makes even more sense when you find out what Issa Rae said to Variety back in February. “Since the third grade, I’ve loved Spider-Man, comic books, memorabilia, everything,” she said.
No plot details have been made available so far. We do know that Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse will be in theaters on October 7, 2022. For more details, go here. I hope to have more updates for you soon.
