Fresh off of her WGA win for Promising Young Woman, Emerald Fennell has a magical new gig. Variety was first to report that the writer/director will pen the screenplay for Warner Bros. upcoming Zatanna solo movie. She will be teaming with DC Films and JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot for the adaptation.
This would mark the first live action appearance since we saw the character on Smallville. It would also be the first time we’ve seen Zatanna on the big screen. There is no confirmation as to whether or not Fennell will also direct this tale of backwards magic. Regardless, it’s about time one of the most powerful magicians in all of DC is finally getting the spotlight she deserves.
