Warner Bros. Delays ‘Wonder Woman 1984’; Others Left Undated

Remember those rumors about Wonder Woman 1984 going straight to digital? Yeah, there’s a reason we never said a word about it on the podcast or here on the website. Not only was is premature, it was just flat out never going to happen. Now we have a definive answer, and a new date.

Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that I Wonder Woman 1984 has been shifted from June 5th to August 14th. That’s right, THIS year. Given the delays that other movies have gotten during the COVID-19 pandemic, this is quite mild.

Want more evidence that this was never going straight to digital? This is what Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group Chairman Toby Emmerich had to say, “When we greenlit WW 1984 it was with every intention to be viewed on the big screen and are excited to announce that Warner Bros. Pictures will be bringing the film to theatres on August 14th. We hope the world will be in a safer and healthier place by then.”

By August, assuming we have the “all clear” by then, fans will be more eager to go out to the movies than ever. Wonder Woman 1984 might actually benefit from that, and it was already expected to be huge. The news isn’t ALL good, however.

It was also announced that SCOOB!, Malignant and In The Heights have been delayed with no new release dates set. This is where we could see digital releases, should it come to that.

As is the case with all these delays, more on this as it develops..
