What's behind the door? Usually when you're talking about a supernatural series, or horror series, that doesn't mean anything good. Who stands against it? That's where the real fun begins. Peacock hopes that they have just the team that you'll rally behind in The Girl In The Woods from Crypt TV. Before I give you more details, see what you think of the first trailer.
It seems like the Pacific Northwest is the perfect setting for a story like this, for a lot of reasons. The Girl In The Woods follows, "Carrie’s escape from her mysterious, cult-like colony that guards the world from monsters hidden behind a secret door within the woods. The series also touches on contemporary social issues like LGBTQ+ discrimination, the human cost of environmentalism and the consequences of inequality."
The cast is led by Stefanie Scott as Carrie, Misha Osherovich as Nolan and Sofia Bryant as Tasha. You'll also see Will Yun Lee as Arthur Dean, Kylie Liya Page as Sara, Reed Diamond as Hosea and Leonard Roberts as Khalil. The all female writing team is led by Jane Casey Modderno. Krysten Ritter of Jessica Jones fame found herself behind the camera this time, directing the first four episodes. The next four were directed by Jacob Chase.
Ritter and Modderno also serves as co-executive producers along with Crypt TV CEO Jack Davis and COO Darren Brandl. Other co-executive producers include Jeremy Elliott and Jasmine Johnson. Joey Greene and Cameron Fuller join Chase as co-producers. The series is based on both The Door In The Woods and The Girl In The Woods short films from Crypt TV. It will be interesting to see how the series will expand on the monster universe.
All eight episodes of The Girl In The Woods will premiere October 21st on Peacock. Keep checking back for more coverage and our review of the series.
