UPDATE (7/2/21): The release date is now October 1, 2021.

Snap your fingers, and a sequel will appear. After MGM’s successful revival of The Addams Family in animation, everyone’s favorite kooky and ooky family will be returning next year. The Addams Family 2 was revealed in trailer today.

Returning to the cast will be Charlize Theron (Morticia), Oscar Isaac (Gomez), Chloë Grace Moretz (Wednesday), Nick Kroll (Fester), Bette Midler (Grandma) and Snoop Dogg (It). Joining the cast will be Bill Hader (SNL) will play a new character named Cyrus. Javon “Wanna” Walton will be the new voice of Pugsley. Greg Tiernan will also return to direct.

We actually do have some early details about the plot as well. In the synopsis released by MGM: “Everyone’s favorite spooky family is back in the new animated comedy sequel The Addams Family 2. In this all new movie, The Addams get tangled up in wacky adventures and find themselves involved in hilarious run-ins with all sorts of unsuspecting characters. Always staying true to themselves, the Addams Family brings their iconic spookiness and kookiness wherever they go.”

I admit that it’s very vague, but it’s something. The sequel is produced by Gail Berman, Conrad Vernon, Danielle Sterling and Alison O’Brien. Executive Producers are Jonathan Glickman, Cassidy Lange and Andrew Mittman. Laura Brousseau and Kevin Pavlovic will serve as co-directors alongside Tiernan. The Addams Family 2 will be released October 9, 2021 from MGM’s United Artists.
