It seems like every season on Stranger Things has given us some sort of shocking death. In Season 3, the body count was a bit higher, but one in particular didn't seem like it would stick. Maybe I'll just let the teaser that Netflix released for Season 4 do the spoiling for me:
That's right, it appears that Hopper is back. It seemed like he died last season, but like I pointed out during my review of Season 3, we never saw a body and that means that anything is possible. His hair might be gone, but it's not like he had a ton of it to begin with anyway. That doesn't mean that Hopper's return is without mystery. Is this really Hopper, or is there something different? Will he now have abilities after the lab accident? Will there now be a Russian connection? Those are just the first few that pop into my head.
The Duffer Bros. might be shedding some light on that with this statement, which accompanied the release: "We’re excited to officially confirm that production on Stranger Things 4 is now underway - and even more excited to announce the return of Hopper! Although it’s not all good news for our 'American'; he is imprisoned far from home in the snowy wasteland of Kamchatka, where he will face dangers both human...and other," but that's not all they had to say. "Meanwhile, back in the states, a new horror is beginning to surface, something long buried, something that connects everything… Season 4 is shaping up to be the biggest and most frightening season yet, and we cannot wait for everyone to see more. In the meantime - pray for the American."
There is currently no release date for Stranger Things 4.
