UPDATE (6/14/21): Netflix has acquired the global rights to the sequel, meaning it will stream globally and exclusively on Netflix. It was also revealed the filming will begin this year. See the rest of the story below.

In December of 2019, the crowd funded Code 8 movie became a reality. Since then the film has been a huge success. Not only did it have a successful On Demand release, but it topped the Netflix rankings for a short time as well. Many fans, including myself, have been wondering about potential sequels and spinoffs. Now we have an answer.
Deadline reports that a Code 8 sequel is indeed in the works, with both Stephen Amell and Robbie Amell returning. Also returning will be Jeff Chan, who directed the first film. The trio will also produce, along with Chris Paré, who also wrote the script for the first film with Chan. XYZ Films will also produce.
The plot of Code 8: Part II will follow, "the journey of a teenage girl fighting to get justice for her slain brother at the hands of corrupt police officers. After becoming a witness to the cover-up, she becomes a target and enlists the help of an ex-con (Robbie Amell) and his former partner-in-crime (Stephen Amell). Together, they face a highly regarded and well protected police sergeant who will use every tool to prevent himself from being exposed."
"
There’s nothing better than working with family and friends," Robbie Amell told Deadline. "Code 8 was the embodiment of that. I can’t wait to get back to work on the sequel."
"Code 8 is an incredibly personal and special project for all of us,” Stephen Amell added. "We built the world in the first one and now we’re ready to blow it out!"
No word on if Verticle Entertainment will handle distribution in the U.S. (and Elevation Pictures in Canada) for the sequel. What matters right now is, a sequel is happening. Keep checking back for updates.
