Fans of Outlander and American Gods might be a bit disappointed at this news. Starz has announced that their new series, The Rook, will be the only show that they are bringing to Comic-Con this year. This isn't a huge surprise, since I believe Outlander is still busy filming their upcoming season. This is a great opportunity to shine the spotlight on a new series that many fans might not know about.
If you're not familiar with The Rook, the show tells the story of Myfanwy Thomas, a woman who wakes up in the rain beside London’s Millennium Bridge with no memory of who she is and no way to explain the circle of latex-gloved dead bodies splayed around her. When Myfanwy discovers she is a high ranking official in the Checquy, Britain’s last truly secret service for people with paranormal abilities, she will have to navigate the dangerous and complex world of the agency to uncover who wiped her memory - and why she is a target. It's is based on the 2012 novel of the same name, written by Daniel O'Malley. The show will already be a few episodes in by the time that Comic-Con rolls around.
The panel is set for 5:45pm on Friday, July 19th in Room 6A. Fans will get to see an early airing of Episode 4, followed by a Q&A. Series stars Emma Greenwell (Myfanwy), Olivia Munn (Monica) and Joely Richardson (Linda Ferrier) are scheduled to appear during the panel. There is no word on if they will be joined by any of the show's writers or producers.
If you've never heard about The Rook until now, here is a trailer for the show which airs Sundays on Starz and the Starz app.
