You hear a lot about high school during the course of your life. Talking about how these are the days you’ll remember for the rest of your life, how much it will shape your future and so on. Nobody ever said anything about it turning into The Hunger Games of a big pile of cash. That’s just what we might see in the upcoming young adult series, Panic, from Amazon Studios.
The ten episode series will be based off of the HarperCollins novel of the same name from Lauren Oliver. Here is a quick synopsis: ” It takes place in a small Texas town, where every summer the graduating seniors compete in a series of challenges, winner takes all, which they believe is their one and only chance to escape their circumstances and make their lives better. But this year, the rules have changed — the pot of money is larger than ever and the game has become even more dangerous. The players will come face to face with their deepest, darkest fears and be forced to decide how much they are willing to risk in order to win.”
Oliver will serve as executive producer along with Joe Roth, Jeff Kirschenbaum and Adam Schroeder. Lynley Bird and Alyssa Altman serve as co-executive producers. The series will star Olivia Welch as Heather Nill, Mike Faist as Dodge Mason, Jessica Sula as Natalie Williams, Camron Jones as Bishop Mason, Ray Nicholson as Ray Hall and Enrique Murciano as Sheriff Cortez. Additional supporting cast may be announced at a later date.
A new version of the best selling novel that ties into the show is available for pre-order here. All ten episodes will be available on Amazon Prime Video on May 28th. Keep checking back for updates, including a trailer, our review and more.
