After the thrilling Season 1 finale of Motherland: Fort Salem, there definitely one burning question: What's happening with Raelle and Abigail? We also have this new group of hunters called the Camarilla to deal with. We won't have to wait too much longer to get answers, with Season 2 of Motherland: Fort Salem premiering on June 22nd on Freeform. There's something else to think about now, with Deadline reporting that we will meet five new members of the cast this season.
Let's meet them, in no particular order:
- Victor Webster (Working Moms) plays Blanton Silver, vice president of the United States. When his daughter is discovered to be a witch, Silver tries to adjust to her newfound identity.
- Mellany Barros (Chad) will play said daughter, Penelope Silver, the only child of the vice president who accidentally discovers she is a witch. She is enthusiastic, passionate, yet overwhelmed while she navigates this shift from civilian to military life.
- Praneet Akilla (Nancy Drew) will play Gregorio, a male witch from the upper echelons of military witch society. Sound familiar? He has HUGE opinions about how male witches are treated in a female dominant witch army, and makes them known.
- Ess Hödlmoser (The Boys) plays M, a non-binary second-year soldier in War College, M is very protective of our Unit and any witch in their coven.
- Arlen Aguayo Stewart (The Good Doctor) is Nicte, someone from Alder’s past who helped shape her into who she is now.
It will be interesting to see how all of these characters come into play. Nicte seems to stand out for me, only because we don't know a whole lot about Adler's past beyond her actual service. So meeting someone important from her past should add some intrigue and depth to her character. Plus I can't wait to see how Gregorio and Abigail might clash.
So, will Raelle and Abigail have some new abilities after the events of Season 1? Will the Army and the Spree actually end up working together? What's going on with Scylla and Anacostia? Hopefully we get some answers on June 22nd on Freeform and next day on Hulu. We'll have more coverage of Motherland: Fort Salem leading up to the premiere. Until then, you can go back and listen to our Season 1 interviews with Jessica Sutton and Amalia Holm.
