Since it is Netflix Geeked Week, expect a lot of news from them over the next few days. It only seems appropriate that they started things off by bringing the light. The streamer has renewed Shadow And Bone for a second season. Hear it from the cast themselves.
This wasn’t really a hard decision. The series was watched by more than 55 million member households and was in the Top 10 in several countries. The Shadow And Bone and Six of Crows novels from Leigh Bardugo even returned to the bestsellers list during the run of the series. So if anyone is excited today, it’s Bardugo.
“I’ve been writing in the Grishaverse for nearly ten years now, so I’m thrilled we get to keep this adventure going. There are so many places we’ve barely gotten to visit and I can’t wait to introduce our audience to more of the saints, soldiers, thugs, thieves, princes, and privateers who make this world so much fun to explore. It’s going to be real magic to see our brilliant, talented cast expand,” she said.
Showrunner Eric Heisserer also shared his enthusiasm by saying, “I’m honored and thrilled to return to the Grishaverse and continue the stories of these endearing characters, particularly Milo.”
That should make Milo fans very happy. Reprising their roles will be Jessie Mei Li (Alina Starkov), Archie Renaux (Malyen Oretsev), Freddy Carter (Kaz Brekker), Amita Suman (Inej), Kit Young (Jesper Fahey), Ben Barnes (General Kirigan), Danielle Galligan (Nina Zenik) and Calahan Skogman (Matthias Helvar). Additional cast will be revealed at a later date. They will also be joined by producers Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, Dan Cohen and Josh Barry for 21 Laps Entertainment (Arrival, Stranger Things) and Pouya Shahbazian for Loom Studios (The Divergent Series).
Season 2 of Shadow And Bone will feature 8 hourlong episodes. There is no release date just yet, but keep checking back for updates. You can watch Season 1 again by going to www.netflix.com/ShadowandBone
