Marvel already has so many iconic characters on their roster. They recently added another one that fans worldwide will recognize. We have known for a while that Ultraman would be making his Marvel Comics debut this year. Now, Marvel and Tsuburaya Productions are showing off The Rise of Ultraman in a new trailer. Check out this teaser:
In case you didn't already know, yes that is the great Alex Ross providing covers for this story. Kyle Higgins (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) and Mat Groom (Self/Made) will be teaming up for the writing duties with a trio of great artists Francesco Manna (Avengers, Fantastic Four) Michael Cho (Captain America) and Gurihiru (The Unstoppable Wasp). If you watched the trailer, you already saw a few familiar characters that look like they will be popping in to this story.
This story is being presented as a "reimagining the fabled beginnings of this iconic hero." The trailer pretty much confirms that as well, we're getting an origin story. Given the fact that Ultraman is making his debut in the Marvel Universe, it only makes sense that they integrate him in this way. In a statement to Marvel.com, HIggins and Groom describe it as, "Familiar ideas, but given brand-new spins." Don't worry, Kaiju will still be a part of things.
The Rise of Ultraman #1 will be available at local comic book shops and digital retailers on September 9, 2020.
