Marvel FINALLY Gives Sue Storm Her Own Solo Series

The Invisible Woman is about to become very visible! Sue Storm is venturing out on her own, outside of the Fantastic Four for her own adventure. The title will be written by Mark Waid, with art by Mattia De Oil is and covers by Adam Hughes.

A press release from Marvel gives a quick synopsis of the upcoming series. Years ago, after becoming part of the Fantastic Four, everyone’s favorite Invisible Woman was taking on adventures of her own on an espionage mission for S.H.I.E.L.D. Now, it’s up to Sue to save her former partner from danger before it’s too late!

The story will also unlock some stories from Sue Storm’s past, which could be very interesting. While I am very happy to see Sue Storm finally get her due, I’m a bit surprised that Mark Waid was the choice for this book. It seems to me that this would have been a good chance to give the spotlight to any number of great female comic book writers. I’m not saying Waid can’t do the job, but it would have been nice to see a female creator get a crack at Sue Storm’s first solo offering.

The first issue drops in July, which is great timing so close to Comic-Con. We will have more information on this book as it becomes available. Will you be reading Invisible Woman #1?
