After years of waiting, Barbara Gordon will finally have her own live action movie. Deadline was first to report that In The Heights star Leslie Grace has landed the title role in the upcoming Batgirl movie. The report suggests that her audition really sealed the deal, but Warner Bros. and DC Films have yet to comment.
The film will be one of the first that will premiere exclusively on HBO Max. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are set to direct, with the script coming from Christina Hodson. Kristin Burr is the only producer announced so far. Since there are no plot details yet, there’s really no idea of what to expect with additional casting at this time. All we know so far is that Barbara Gordon will be the Batgirl in this film.
Hopefully we will get some more details at DC FanDome in October. Once those updates happen, I’ll have them for you.
