The rumors on the floor of WonderCon this weekend are now a reality. We heard that Netflix might finally announce the renewal of The Umbrella Academy, and now it’s official. That’s not the end of the good news.
The cast set to reprise
their roles include Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, and Justin Min.
We also know that Steve Blackman (Fargo, Altered Carbon) will return as Showrunner and Executive Producer. There will be some additions to the cast, but those will be announced at a later date.
Much like Season 1, the 2nd season will also be 10 episodes. Filming will begin some time this summer in Toronto. The Umbrella Academy is easily one of my favorite shows early in the 2019 TV season, so this renewal isn’t a big shocker. The only thing that surprised me is that it took this long. You know how it is when shows don’t get renewed right away these days. I also thought that this was Netflix proving that they will be fine without their Marvel shows, so I figured this would be instantly renewed. Well, we’re here now and that’s all that matters.
