Netflix hasn't always gone the traditional route when it comes to their superhero adaptations. Still, it has worked for them more often than not. Their next effort is an adaptation of the Fantagraphics graphic novel, I Am Not Okay With This from Charles Forsman. Here's the first trailer, before we get to the synopsis:
Now for the official synopsis from Netflix, which describes the show as "an irreverent origin story that follows a teenage girl who's navigating the trials and tribulations of high school, all while dealing with the complexities of her family, her budding sexuality, and mysterious superpowers just beginning to awaken deep within her. From director/EP of The End of the F***ing World Jonathan Entwistle and the producers of Stranger Things."
If you've read the graphic novel, you know exactly what those family complexities are and her personal life as well. Sophia Lillis (IT) plays the lead role of Sydney, while Sofia Bryant (Blue Bloods) plays her best friend Dina. Pictured above with Lillis is Aidan Wojtak-Hissong (Falling Water) who plays Liam.
If you loved the trailer, you won't have to wait long for all eight episodes to come out. I Am Not Okay With This premieres on Netflix on February 26, 2020.
