UPDATED (11/4/19): Steinfeld was asked about this report by Radio Times while doing press for her Apple TV+ series, Dickinson. She said, “That’s not something that’s necessarily happening.” Remember, this original story was never confirmed by anyone at Marvel Studios or Disney. She certainly did not flat out deny the potential casting, and the door still seems open. More on this story as it develops. You can find the original story below.
Has Disney found their new Kate Bishop? Variety reports that Hailee Steinfeld has been offered the title role in the upcoming Hawkeye Disney+ series. This would be a bit of a passing of the torch from Renner’s Clint Barton and Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop.
Keep in mind that Kate Bishop is also a member of the Young Avengers, and with so many younger characters starting to come into the MCU fold, this could be more of a long term plan for Marvel. Steinfeld was one of the bright spots of Paramount’s Bumblebee movie, and could certainly handle the role well. She is certainly no stranger to the world of Marvel, having voiced Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse. Her successful music career would certainly draw fans to the project, as well.
Of course, none of this has been confirmed at this time. What do you think of the choice?
