Netflix has been very busy with animation lately. You heard me talk about the Jurassic World animated series on Episode 268 of the podcast, now we have another feature film franchise getting the animation treatment. It was announced previously, but we’re finally getting a first look.
Fast & Furious: Spy Racers, coming soon to Netflix
Fast & Furious: Spy Racers expands the high-octane action of the films as teenager Tony Toretto follows in the footsteps of his cousin Dom when he and his friends are recruited by a government agency to infiltrate an elite racing league serving as a front for a nefarious crime organization bent on world domination. Tim Hedrick (Voltron Legendary Defender) and Bret Haaland (All Hail King Julien) will serve as executive producers and showrunners. The series is also executive produced by Vin Diesel and Chris Morgan who also serve as producers on the live-action Fast & Furious franchise. The series is slated to debut globally on Netflix later this year.
Both this and Jurassic World are from Universal Pictures, so there seems to be quite the partnership developing here. You see the DreamWorks TV logo on the teaser too, which is no surprise given their connection with Netflix. Imagine what they will be able to do with a series like Fast & Furious without having to worry about a huge stunt budget! The story seems very interesting, so I think this has big potential.
Are you looking forward to Fast & Furious: Spy Racers?
