Since the onset of the pandemic, you’ve likely said, “I’m so glad that (insert event here) are back.” Cons are usually near the top of the list, but I think that we have also learned the importance of film festivals more and more over the last couple of years. So many films can fly under the radar, but can find a play to shine at events like BFI London or tiff in Toronto. Amazon is hoping that Encounter can be one of those stories.
The mysterious film will begin in theaters in December before heading to Prime Video a week later. You’ll see why I say mysterious when you see the teaser trailer:
We see a few glimpses of something other worldly going on, but it’s called a teaser for a reason. The early synopsis for the film doesn’t offer much more. In Encounter: “A decorated Marine goes on a rescue mission to save his two young sons from a mysterious threat. As their journey takes them in increasingly dangerous directions, the boys will need to leave their childhoods behind.”
The cast includes Riz Ahmed, Octavia Spencer, Rory Cochrane, Lucian-River Chauhan and Aditya Geddada. Michael Pearce serves as director, and wrote the script with Joe Barton. If you want a chance to see it on the big screen, you can do that starting on December 3rd. The Amazon Original Movie will also hit Prime Video on December 10th. We’ll have more coverage as thing get closer.
