Elizabeth Banks Set To Direct & Star In ‘Invisible Woman’

It seems like the Universal Monsters are slowly making their way back to the big screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Elizabeth Banks will direct and star in an Invisible Woman movie. Sorry Marvel fans, not THAT Invisible Woman. Erin Cressida (The Girl on the Train) will pen the script.

The report says that Banks will tell her own original story based on the character. The 1940s version wasn’t exactly in the horror mold, and was much more of a comedy. While Banks is certainly known for her comedy, don’t forget the was also in Brightburn for Sony Pictures. Invisible Woman is also from Sony. She is also coming off of directing the recent Charlie’s Angels reboot.

Banks’ talent not withstanding, this project feels like it will be a challenging one overall. Universal Monsters movies have struggled to find a fan base recently, and this is certainly not one of it’s best known characters. More on this coming up on Episode 293 of our podcast this week.
