It appears that finally the right decision has been made. The organizers of Emerald City Comic Con announced today that the convention would be officially postponed until this summer. Here is the official statement:

This move is a result of Washington state currently being the hardest hit by the coronavirus in the United States. Many creators, publishers and celebrity guests had already cancelled their appearances at the upcoming convention. Many have been outspoken on social media (myself included), that the best thing for everyone involved would be to cancel the gathering.
ECCC is one of the more popular conventions among fans and professionals alike. This move means that the event will likely be the fun experience that it should be, and not a sparsely attended ghost town. No new date has been announced at this time.
