I’ll admit, I was late to the Dark Horse Comics party in my fandom. I’ve been making up for that ever since, but one of the first books that really got my attention was Lady Killer from Joëlle Jones and Jamie S. Rich. The brutal art, coupled with the nostalgic and rich story really wowed me. Now we’ll all get to see it brought to life on screen.
Blake Lively is set to star in a film adaptation of the comic book series. Academy Award winner Diablo Cody will direct and also write the screenplay. Lively will also produce through B For Effort with Kate Varhoff. They’re joined by fellow producers Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg of Dark Horse Entertainment. While the press release doesn’t specify where the film will be released, Dark Horse does have a first look deal with Netflix. So that makes it the most likely destination.
If you’re not familiar with Lady Killer, here is a quick synopsis: “By all appearances, Josie Schuller is the perfect 1950’s housewife. But when she’s not catering to the needs of her family, she leads a secret life as a highly-trained killer for hire.”
Remember, Lively’s husband Ryan Reynolds is Deadpool. Quite frankly, I think we should start the crossover rumors. Keep checking back for updates, because I’m super excited for this, so I’ll be keeping a close eye on it.
