Fans of Yellowstone that were watching the aftermath of the siege on the Dutton family during the Season 4 premiere were treated to something special. The broadcast featured a first look at the upcoming prequel series, 1883. In case you missed it during the show, here it is:
The official synopsis for the series has also been revealed: "
1883 follows the Dutton family as they embark on a journey west through the Great Plains toward the last bastion of untamed America. It is a stark retelling of Western expansion, and an intense study of one family fleeing poverty to seek a better future in America’s promised land – Montana.
Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, 1883 is executive produced by Sheridan, John Linson, Art Linson, David Glasser, Ron Burkle and Bob Yari. "
So, we'll follow the Dutton family's journey to Montana. Given the time period, it won't be an easy one. That's pretty on brand, because when has the Dutton family ever done anything the easy way? It will be interesting to see how historically accurate the series will be, as we do see some historical elements teased in this trailer.
We had already shared some of the casting news with you in a previous story. Joining Sam Elliott, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill will be Billy Bob Thornton, Isabel May and LaMonica Garrett. Expect the husband and wife team of McGraw and Hill to have major roles in the series.
If you thought that you would have to wait until 2022 to see the journey begin, think again. 1883 begins December 19th on Paramount+. Season 4 of Yellowstone is airing now on Paramount Network. Don't forgot about Mayor of Kingstown as well, which is also part of the Sheridanverse.
