It was a great day to be at WonderCon if you were a DC Comics fan! Today at the DC Universe panel, several announcements were made that make being a subscriber even sweeter. They also unveiled a first look at Brec Bassinger as Stargirl (which you can see in the image above.) So let's get to the announcements.
Possibly the biggest announcement was the expanded library of DC Comics single issued. Starting in April, issues that have been released 12 months prior will be available to read for free on DC Universe. I know 12 months is a long time, but if it's something that you haven't read already, it doesn't really matter. This gives fans the option of reading more DC, but also not hurting any print or digital sales. All in all, a pretty smart move if you ask me.
There were also several updates on release dates for DC Universe originals. We now know that Swamp Thing will be released on May 31st of this year. As for the aforementioned Stargirl, we'll have to wait until 2020, but we also know that Geoff Johns will serve as showrunner. Fans waiting for the midseason return of Young Justice: Outsiders, that will happen on July 2nd of this year. Finally, Season 2 of Titans and the debut of the new Harley Quinn animated series will both come out in the Fall of 2019.
To get you ready for Season 2 of Krypton from Syfy, Season 1 of the series will be available on DC Universe in just a few days on April 5th. You can also watch the new DC animated movie, Justice League vs The Fatal Five on April 16th. That's also the day you can buy the movie on 4K, Blu-Ray and DVD by the way.
