‘Wonder Woman’ Gets A New Writer This Summer

It’s another big year for Wonder Woman. Not only Wonder Woman 1984 coming to theaters soon, but Diana will be celebrating a 750th issue milestone, as well. This summer, things heat up with a new creative team.

First reported by THR, writer Mariko Tamaki will begin writing Wonder Woman this June. She will be joined by superstar artist Mikel Janin, along with covers by David Marquez, Joshua Middleton and Jim Lee. The new arc will begin with Issue 759.

Here is the synopsis for the new arc: “Diana starts to pick up the pieces of her life following her battle with the Four Horsewomen. Man’s world has become more complicated to navigate than ever before! A familiar threat is watching Diana’s every move, and now is the perfect time to strike…”

DC also mentions that Maxwell Lord will return in Issue 760. I’ll give you one guess as to why that might be. Regardless of the characters, I think Tamaki will do an amazing job. She has always been very underrated, in my opinion. If you didn’t see her work on Supergirl: Being Super, you should. Add Janin to the list, and I’m all in. Janin’s work on Batman in the past has been stellar, so I know this will be more of the same.

Tamaki seems excited too, saying that, “Wonder Woman was the hero I grew up with, she was my little-kid-living-room-cosplay. I have always wanted a golden lasso and an invisible jet, and I feel like now, writing Wonder Woman, I’m one step closer.”

Wonder Woman #759 will be available June 10, 2020.
