Yesterday was International Women's Day, so there really wasn't a better time to announce plans for Wonder Woman's 80th anniversary celebration. Warner Bros. and DC have quite a few plans and ways for fans to celebrate. Obviously any gatherings are not really possible right now, but that doesn't mean there won't be plenty of things to watch, read, wear and experience throughout the year.
Obviously social media will be buzzing the entire year, with the #BelieveInWonder campaign already started by Lynda Carter and Gal Gadot. This won't just be about those in the public eye, Believe In Wonder will also illuminate and empower real life heroes and women including journalists, cultural figures, experts, social media influencers and more. Wonder Woman did a lot for advancing representation, and now this celebration will highlight others that are doing the same.
If you want to celebrate properly, you'll want to look the part as well right? You probably already have some Wonder Woman gear in your wardrobe, but you'll have the option to kick it up a few notches. World renowned designers Venus Williams, Camilla, and Azede Jean-Pierre collaborated with Warner Bros. Consumer Products on Wonder Woman inspired fashion collections. EleVen’s “I Am Wonder Woman” activewear line by international tennis champion and entrepreneur Venus Williams is available now. Also available, is a luxurious limited-edition collection from Australian designer Camilla, and later this month award-winning designer Azede Jean-Pierre will reveal a custom collection featuring never-before-seen artwork.
Speaking of great artwork, we couldn't possibly talk about Wonder Woman without talking about the comics. You can see where it all started with All-Star Comics #8, Sensation Comics #1 and Wonder Woman #1 (1942) for free on DC Universe Infinite. You'll also be able to dig even deeper with the upcoming Wonder Woman 80th Anniversary 100 Page Spectacular. Much like previous celebrations from DC Comics, this book will feature a collection of all star creative teams. Eisner Award-winning artist Yanick Paquette (Wonder Woman: Earth One) with colors by Nathan Fairbairn will also team up for an art montage. You'll have plenty of time to read the classics, because this book won't be available until October.
Now would also be a great time to watch Wonder Woman 1984, if you haven't already. The film will be available on DigitalHD on March 16th, with the 4K/Blu-Ray/DVD release set for March 30th. Wonder Woman also headlines the upcoming Justice Society: World War II animated film , which you can learn more about here. Plus you can watch ever episode of the classic Wonder Woman TV series, and the 2017 Wonder Woman film, right now on HBO Max.
There will be plenty more updates on this yearlong celebration. Whether it's required reading or suggestions on what you might enjoy watching, you can always ask us. If there are any important updates, we'll be sure to pass them along.
