Am I the only one who feel like they have been waiting forever for the Wednesday series trailer? It’s not like Netflix had been dragging their feet, that’s just how much I’ve been looking forward to this Tim Burton series. Seeing Jenna Ortega as the iconic Addams Family character during Netflix’s Geeked Week only made me more excited to see the trailer and meet the rest of the family. Today, we get to do both.
Anyone else find it hilarious to see Wednesday Addams in public school? That works out about as good as you would expect. That’s when we meet Gomez and Morticia, then Nevermore Academy. I’ll save the rest of my thoughts on the trailer for Episode 432 of the podcast, but it looks like this series might just live up to my own personal hype. Hey…I’m a huge Addams Family fan and this is about as unique as it’s gotten over the years for the fandom.
Here is the new logline for the series: “The series is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the murder mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.”
The cast includes Jenna Ortega (Wednesday Addams), Gwendoline Christie (Principal Larissa Weems), Jamie McShane (Sheriff Galpin), Percy Hynes White (Xavier Thorpe), Hunter Doohan (Tyler Galpin), Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay), Naomi J Ogawa (Yoko Tanaka), Moosa Mostafa (Eugene Ottinger), Georgie Farmer (Ajax Petropolus), Riki Lindhome (Dr. Valerie Kinbott), Christina Ricci (Marilyn Thornhill) and the rest of the family: Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams) and Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley Addams).
Burton will direct and serve as executive producer with writers and showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. Additional executive producers are Steve Stark, Andrew Mittman (1.21 Entertainment), Kevin Miserocchi (Tee and Charles Addams Foundation), Kayla Alpert, Jonathan Glickman (Glickmania), Gail Berman, Tommy Harper and Kevin Lafferty.
The series is still set for a Fall release, which will hopefully be sometime in October or early November. Make sure you go to https://www.netflix.com/wednesday to set your reminder just in case. You know I’ll have plenty more coverage of the series in the coming weeks, so keep checking back.
