Last year, Netflix started their Geeked Week virtual event and it was a huge success. It was a flurry of news, first looks and a lot of fun with great talent from a huge list of upcoming series, movies and animation. This year, things kicked off with a look at one of the most anticipated series of the year.
We have known for some time now that Jenna Ortega would be starring as the iconic Wednesday Addams in the Wednesday series from director Tim Burton. Until now, all we have gotten were a poster and a quick teaser video of Thing. Thanks to the magic of Geeked Week, we have a full first look at Ortega as an older Wednesday Addams. Here it is, in case you missed it.
Even though I had all the confidence in the world in Burton and company, I’ll admit that I was still nervous before looking at this reveal. Good news is, they nailed it. Ortega looks every bit the part as an older Wednesday Addams. From the hair to the overall look, it’s about as good as you could have imagined. Plus, that face speaks volumes even though she doesn’t say a word.
While we don’t have a firm release date yet, it appears that we’ll be seeing Wednesday at some point this Fall. As far as I’m concerned, that’s great news, because I wasn’t sure that we would see the series debut this year. If you want more information on the rest of the cast, go here.
