The axe continues to drop on Marvel TV in the pre-Fiege era. Remember when we told you about the trouble behind the scenes of the Marvel’s Tigra & Dazzler animated series? Well, the Hulu series has now been cancelled. That is no big surprise, but this next series cancellation is kind of out of the blue.
Kevin Smith has confirmed to Newsarama that his Howard The Duck animated series has also been pulled. Smith was set to work on the series with executive producer Dave Willis, who broke the news to Smith. This is somewhat surprising after Howard The Duck made an MCU movie cameo and seems to have a cult following. It also felt like, of all the Marvel animated series coming to Hulu, this was the biggest sure thing of the bunch.
We know thar Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. is still happening. The report even says that Marvel’s Hit Monkey is still in development. I’m still not sure that the Hit Monkey folks should feel too comfortable. If we’re being honest, these were more deep cut characters anyway, so the loss isn’t huge in that regard. The initial plans, which included a planned crossover, seemed a bit shaky from the start.
More information as it becomes available.
