Amazon has had some success turning a successful movie franchise into a TV series. They did it with Jack Ryan, they’re working on Lord of the Rings and their next attempt will have a vigilante as it’s lead. THR reports that Alan Ritchson has been cast as the new Jack Reacher.
The role, made famous by Tom Cruise, will be taken over by Ritchson for an upcoming series on Amazon. The series will still be based on the novels of Lee Child and come from Skydance and Paramount Television Studios. The character is a freelance investigator of sorts, so not too far from the vigilante hero played by Ritchson on Titans. Plus, he fits Child’s original idea for Reacher a bit better.
Nick Santora will serve as showrunner. He will be joined by executive producers Don Granger, Christopher McQuarrie, Marcy Ross and Scott Sullivan and finally David Ellison and Dana Goldberg from Skydance. We know that this group will tackle the adaptation of the Killing Floor novel for Season 1.
Obviously, the series is in it’s very early stages. Keep checking back for updates, trailers and more.
