‘Thundercats’ Movie Coming From ‘Godzilla vs Kong’ Director

You read the name and you can’t help but hear the voice in your head. “Thunder. Thunder. Thundercats!” Now the “Hoooooo” will be heard on the big screen. Deadline reports that a Thundercats movie is in the works from Godzilla vs Kong director Adam Wingard.

The film will honor the original Rankin Bass series, and use it as a jumping off point for Wingard’s story. This means that Wingard will re-write the original script, teaming with Simon Barrett. This feature also appears to be a CGI/animation hybrid style. So, this doesn’t appear to be live action, but that doesn’t mean that it won’t be amazing. Budget wise, it also makes a lot of sense.

Adam Wingard has an overall deal with Warner Bros. If you watch his interview with Deadline, he seems to be a very passionate Thundercats fan. He has apparently been thinking about the idea of this movie for a while, so to me, that’s another good sign.

I’m sure you’re understandably nervous after the last Thundercats project that we got. Hopefully the next update will help ease some of that. Keep checking back for more news to come.
