‘The Muppets’ Disney+ Series In No Longer Happening

Apparently, it's still not easy being green.  I was looking forward to The Muppets returning on Disney+, but it looks like that is no longer happening.  Deadline reports that Disney has decided not to move forward with the upcoming series from Josh Gad, Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis.

It appears that "creative differences" strikes again on this one. The report says that the writing team and Muppet Studios had different creative visions for the series, and that is why it is not moving forward.  Gad took to Twitter to confirm that:

Muppets Live Another Day would have picked up right where Muppets Take Manhattan left off, with Kermit getting the group back together to look for Rowlf.  Looks like Rowlf will just have to keep wandering.

Sure I'm upset about this, but at the same time, it's hard to get too exercised about the whole thing.  Think about all of the shows and movies already announced for Disney+.  You had to know that something was going to slip through the cracks.  Unfortunately, that just happened to be The Muppets.  Since the group is still very recognizable and well liked, I have to think that Disney will do something with them on the streaming service at some point.  I know they have Muppets Now coming in 2020, but that's not quite what I had in mind.  I'll still be watching it, of course.

What do you think of the news, and what sort of Muppets based programming would you like it see?
