After decades, it’s time to re-enter the Matrix. The mind bending film franchise is set to return this December, but what will it look like? We got a pretty good idea with the release of the first trailer today from Warner Bros. Pictures.
So, can we talk about how Neo and Trinity don’t know each other? There also seem to be a ton of blue pills. Oh yeah, and Morpheus might be (kind of) back. That’s a lot to take in after only three minutes. The discussion has already begun, and it’s just one trailer. The debate around this film franchise is honestly one of the things that I loved about the original trilogy.
Keanu Reeves, of course, returns as Neo. As you can see, Carrie-Anne Moss is also back as Trinity, and Jada Pinkett Smith also returns. We will see a bunch of new faces in the cast including Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jonathan Groff, Jessica Henwick, Christina Ricci, and Neil Patrick Harris. Lana Wachowski is on her own this time, directing The Matrix Resurrections solo.
There will be plenty more updates to come as the release date gets closer. The Matrix Resurrections premieres December 22nd in theaters and on HBO Max.
