‘The Last of Us’ Series Official First Look & Familiar Names Added To The Cast

I’m not a big fan of set photos and leaks. They always look horrible and awkward. Plus, I always feel like I am cheating myself out of a glorious reveal at some point. We’ve been waiting for an official look at The Last Of Us series, which is coming to HBO. Well we finally got it, kind of.

As you can see, above is the first look at Joel and Ellie, played by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey respectively. Unfortunately, it just kind of looks like Pedro and Bella crawling on the ground because someone dropped their phone and they can’t find it in the dark. I’m happy that we got something, but it still doesn’t feel like an official first look at the series. Normally I try to find a bright spot in everything, but huge fans of The Last Of Us won’t have their frustration quelled by this image. The second piece of news will, however, give fans something to cheer about.

At Summer Game Fest, Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann (who also directed the pilot episode) revealed that Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson would be joining the cast of the live action series. If you didn’t know, they are the voices of Joel and Ellie in the original 2013 game. Obviously they won’t play the same characters, but adding them to the cast in any way is a very cool move and does give fans something more to ponder before the premiere.

Druckmann promises that this will be the most faithful video game adaptation ever. That could be considered a good thing or a bad thing depending on your perspective. I’m not sure a shot for shot adaptation is something that anyone should really want. All we can do is wait and see what we get. There is still no release date for The Last Of Us, but hopefully we’ll have that information soon.
