UPDATED: Hear our opinion of the trailer from Episode 373 of our podcast. After that, watch the trailer for yourself just below that.
Great westerns are a lot art these days. Things have been getting better here and there, but for the most part these great films just don't exist anymore. It looks like Netflix has set out to change that in a big way. Wait until you see the trailer for The Harder They Fall.
This looks like it's going to be a blast. Not just that, but you can't help but get a wow factor from that cast. Now take a look at the synopsis: "When outlaw Nat Love (Jonathan Majors) discovers that his enemy Rufus Buck (Idris Elba) is being released from prison he rounds up his gang to track Rufus down and seek revenge. Those riding with him in this assured, righteously new school Western include his former love Stagecoach Mary (Zazie Beetz), his right and left hand men — hot-tempered Bill Pickett (Edi Gathegi) and fast drawing Jim Beckwourth (R.J. Cyler)—and a surprising adversary-turned-ally. Rufus Buck has his own fearsome crew, including “Treacherous” Trudy Smith (Regina King) and Cherokee Bill (LaKeith Stanfield), and they are not a group that knows how to lose.
The film is directed by Jeymes Samuel, written by Samuel and Boaz Yakin and produced by Shawn Carter, James Lassiter, Lawrence Bender and Jeymes Samuel. In case you don't recognize the name Shawn Carter, you might know him better as Jay-Z. Something tells me that also means we'll be getting a top notch soundtrack, as well.
Obviously you'll be able to see The Harder They Fall when it is released on Netflix this year. It looks like the film will also get a limited theatrical release as well. So, no release date just yet, but we'll keep you updated.
