The CW Cancels ‘Katy Keene’, Can It Be Saved?

In fashion, things can go out of style. That is what has happened with Katy Keene at The CW. Deadline reports that the network has canceled the series after only one season. In the true spirit of any fashion trend, styles can find a way to come back.

The report also says that Warner Bros. TV, the studio for the Riverdale spinoff, is looking at other options to keep the show alive. Good news is, Season 1 is already streaming on HBO Max, so that seems like the most logical option. The service could use more original programming, so it could be a win-win.

Fans should have suspected that something was up when Katy Keene was the only series that did not receive a renewal in January. The ratings weren’t stellar, but the show seemed to perform well enough to warrant another shot. If you ask me, it seems like the coronavirus pandemic might make networks a bit more picky about what they renew. Production now comes with risks that were not there before. In that case, is hanging on to a modest performer worth it?

If Katy Keene is able to find a new home, I’ll let you know. Keep checking back for updates.
