It’s been a busy week in The Batman casting room. THR broke the news that Paul Dano cast been cast as The Riddler for the upcoming movie. This adds another name to the “rogues gallery” that Matt Reeves had promised. Zoë Kravitz was cast as Catwoman earlier this week.
Dano’s credits include Okja from Netflix (seen above), as well as There Will Be Blood and 12 Years A Slave. The reports say he will play Edward Nashton, the man who would go on to become Edward Nigma\The Riddler. Before you freak out, New Earth Riddler was born Edward Nashton before changing his name to Nigma after joining a carnival. So yes, this is canon.
Is this the story we will see followed in The Batman? We’ll find out when the movie hits theaters on June 25, 2021.
