‘Superman’ Being Rebooted With Ta-Nehisi Coates & J.J. Abrams

It’s a bird. It’s a plane. You know where I’m going with this. While Warner Bros. has been announcing movies for seemingly every DC character on the roster recently, they have been trying to figure out what to do about Superman. That picture gets a bit clearer today.

Shadow And Act was first to report that WB will be rebooting Superman on the big screen. Well respected writer Ta-Nehisi Coates will work on the script, J.J. Abrams will produce under the Bad Robot umbrella. Hannah Minghella is also tapped to produce. This was all eventually confirmed by Deadline.

Multiple sources also report that this reboot will focus on a black Superman. There are no character or plot details, so it’s unclear if this Superman would be Kal-El or Val-Zod. While nothing is confirmed, it appears that Henry Cavill may be done playing Superman for good this time. Though, depending on the story, it is hard to rule him out entirely.

We’re talking about a project in the very early stages here, so there is a lot that we don’t know and a lot that could change. So obviously, I’ll have more on this as it develops.
