‘Supergirl’ Casts Jennifer Cheon Garcia In An Interesting Role

Supergirl has plenty to deal with this season. Crisis is looming, Leviathan is coming and Lena appears to be out for some sort of revenge. If all that isn’t enough, a new villain is being added to the mix.

Jennifer Cehon Garcia (Van Helsing) has been cast as Midnight in Season 5, according to Variety. The report describes the character as “a murderous villain released from an otherwordly prison to enact revenge against the person who put her there.” After doing a bit of digging, there might be a comic book connection at play here.

A character named M1dn1ght appears in the pages of Superwoman in the Vol. 3 arc, “The Midnight Hour”. The character does not appear until Issue 15 of the series, but does have a strong connection to Lena Luthor. M1dn1ght is a computer code created by Lena to free her from a dimensional prison. Sound familiar? She ends up gaining a physical manifestation in The Void, which is the world of code. M1dn1ght can fly, teleport and even open energy holes. Here’s a look at the character from the Superwoman #17 cover:

It seems like this is the character that they are going for. Depending on how Lena’s arc goes this season, Midnight could potentially play a big role. In my opinion, this almost feels like a post-Crisis villain to me, but again, it all depends on Lena.

Cheon Garcia is no stranger to the Arrowverse, having played minor roles in both Arrow and The Flash.
