When you think Stephen King, obviously you think about horror first. We're starting to see more and more than he has far more stories to tell than that. One of the latest adaptations of his work will be headed to Apple TV+ in the next couple of months. Apple has just released a first look at Lisey's Story.
This might look like a love story based on what you see, but it is much deeper than that. Here is the official synopsis for the limited series: "Based on the best-selling novel by Stephen King, and adapted by the author himself, “Lisey’s Story” is a deeply personal thriller that follows Lisey Landon (Academy Award winner Julianne Moore) two years after the death of her husband, famous novelist Scott Landon (Academy Award nominee Clive Owen). A series of unsettling events causes Lisey to face memories of her marriage to Scott that she has deliberately blocked out of her mind."
Joining Moore and Owen in the cast will be Joan Allen, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Dane DeHaan. Stephen King actually wrote every episode of the series, which is not typical of his adaptations. Pablo Larraín serves as director for the series, which is produced by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros. Television. King, Moore and Larraín also serve as producers along with Abrams, Ben Stephenson and Juan de Dios Larraín.
Keep in mind heading into this, we are talking about a limited series here. So it might be finite, but it also means we're likely to get a conclusion at the end of the eight episode run. It all begins June 4th on Apple TV+. Keep checking back for more updates, including the first trailer.
