‘Spider-Woman’ Gets A Costume Change, New Solo Series From Marvel

I'll be the first to admit, I can struggle with change at times.  I'm not saying it's a bad thing, it's just that some familiar things should stay that way.  In a bit of a surprise move, Marvel Comics announced a new Spider-Woman comic book series, but a new suit as well.

When Jessica Drew returns for her brand new story, she will be in the very capable hands of writer Karla Pacheco and art from Pere Perez.  The new character design and costume were done by Dave Johnson.  There is a variant cover with the original costume, so Marvel will smartly give you the option (on the exterior anyawy.)  To me this suit just seems a bit too much like the black suit they gave to Spidey years ago.  I'm really hoping that this new suit design grows on me, because right now I'm not digging it as much as I had hoped.

If you're wondering about the story, there really isn't much that is known.  Here's what we have so far from Marvel: Spider-Woman is back and she’s not pulling any punches. This March, Jessica Drew finds tangled in a web of mystery and surrounded by enemies new and old in her brand-new solo series by Karla Pacheco and Pere Pérez. Expect shocking revelations about her origin, characters dropping in from her past, dangerously high stakes, and of course, classic super hero action only Spider-Woman can deliver!

What do you think of the new design?
