Skybound & Kirkman’s “Oblivion Song” Being Adapted By Universal

Robert Kirkman might have his next big adaptation, and this time, it's on the big screen.  I remember when I reviewed the first issue of Oblivion Song, I was blown away by it.  I also couldn't help but wonder what it would look like on the screen.  Now it looks like we'll be finding out soon enough.

Skybound Entertainment announced today that they have reached a deal with Universal Pictures to bring Oblivion Song to the big screen.  According to the press release, Universal’s Executive Vice President of Production Jon Mone and Director of Development Lexi Barta will oversee the project on behalf of the studio. The Oblivion Song adaptation will be produced by Skybound’s film team, including Robert Kirkman, David Alpert, Bryan Furst, and Sean Furst, with Sean O’Keefe attached to write the script.  The comic book series was written by Robert Kirkman and drawn by artist artist Lorenzo De Felici.

In case you're not familiar with the story, it takes place a decade after 300,000 citizens of Philadelphia were suddenly lost in Oblivion. The government made every attempt to recover them but after many years they gave up. Nathan Cole won’t. He makes daily trips, risking his life to try and rescue those lost, alone and afraid, living in the apocalyptic hellscape of Oblivion. But maybe… Nathan is looking for something else. Why can’t he resist the siren call of the Oblivion Song?  Two volumes have already been published, and were very well received by both fans and critics.  There was a lot of action, and a lot of intrigue early on in this sci-fi drama, so I can't wait to see just how true to the book that they stay.  This should also bring something unique to the genre, which is something that is very much needed right now.

How much are you looking forward to Oblivion Song coming to the movies?  Also, feel free to leave your casting suggestions in the comments or on our social media pages.
