Change can be difficult, but it can also lead to new beginnings. After 26 years, fans said goodbye to Bongo Comics. You could consider it a casualty of the Disney merger, and the acquisition of The Simpsons, but something new is coming.
According to Comics Beat, Matt Groening is launching a new publishing company called Bapper Books. The first offering will be based on Groening’s newest series, Disenchantment, which airs on Netflix. “Disenchantment: Untold Tales” will bring new adventures with Bean, Elfo and company. It sounds like there will be a hardcover release coming, then some digital first and monthly offerings beginning in 2020.

If you’re going to Comic-Con this year, you might be able to find out even more. Bapper Books will be at Booth #2519, where Bongo would normally be. They will have all kinds of Disenchantment related items available. There is no word on if there are any plans for Futurama with the publisher. Could we see some new characters and new books introduced at some point?
Part two of the first season of Disenchantment returns to Netflix on September 20, 2019.
